Stay at home mom life

Hey look, I am posting on my blog.  I made some promises to my friends and family at KRK and everyone here that I would post so that people can keep up with our family and our travels.

This weekend was very surreal for me.  I loved knowing that I was finally a stay at home mom.  For once, I did not feel rushed and actually WANTED to work on my house.  I always feel like there is this internal clock in my head counting down how much time is left before I had to go back to work.  Normal people might be motivated by this fact, but it usually shuts me down and I end up sitting down being overwhelmed by all that I have to do and eventually accomplish nothing.  I cleaned up the random items that have been littering my floors and packed up some items that we would no longer need since we were not going back to work/school.

As of right now we are going to be moving to Oklahoma to follow Reid's Air Force career as a pilot.  We were beyond blessed in the fact that due to this being the "busy" season for military moves, the housing office ran out of 3 bedroom houses and offered us a 4 bedroom house.  SWEET!  One bedroom for Reid and I, one for Mason, and an office for me to work on my Etsy shop.  With the extra room we will have I wanted to add a guest bedroom for when our family comes into town.  I thought about this a lot and realized that it may not be the best use of space to have an empty room.  I finally had an epiphany and thought "why not make the extra room into a preschool space for you and Mason?"  Brilliant.  I started planning things out in my head and realized we could put a fold out couch in the preschool room for when guests do come, but the rest of the time can be our "reading station".

Well, Wal-Mart helped me make my dream become a reality.  There were all sorts of things that were on clearance, like binoculars, magnifying glasses, nets, telescope, and a felt interactive map.  Really Wal-Mart?  Way to go.  I am a Target girl, so it was really exciting to find this on the one day we happened to check it out.  I had everything I needed to make a science toys station and geography toys station.  Sweet.  I gathered up everything else once I got home and had bought over the last year writing toys, alphabet blocks and puzzles, counting toys, and basically my own preschool classroom.

Everything got strewn across the floor and packed away into tubs based on my "stations".  I am really excited.  I don't like doing anything unless I feel prepared.  We are going to learn about a different country each week.  We can learn where it is on a map, hello and a few other words, cook recipes from the country, etc.  The idea is that this would help Mason when we are moving around the world because he will have studied all of these countries for 2 years.  Mason will be attending a preschool for 3 days a week for 3 hours a day, but I don't know if he will have time to do much more than play with friends.  He is so smart because of his KRK teachers and I want to ensure he is being challenged.  This little boy is going to do amazing things and I want to make sure that he is ready for whatever he wants to do.

Ok, this blog got really long, really fast.  So here are some pictures.
